It was by total accident that I stumbled on these amazing Meat SNX by BarnDad Nutrition. Like most of you, I struggle to sometimes bring in enough protein on a daily basis. I get tired of chicken and rice 2 times a day, or I forget to eat all together. These handy snack packs have been a lifesaver, both in the office and when I travel. Which this year I've done quite a bit of, and for every single trip I've taken no less than 18 packets. When I've been on the road or sitting in an airport these, have been my go-to snack. They're full of healthy ChicPro Isolate protein, so they are filling, delicious, and just what I need instead of going without eating, then getting so hungry then having a train-wreck of a meal just because it's available and I'm hungry because I didn't plan well.
Just the facts:
These come in a box of 8 single serve packets that are full of small, crispy chip-like snack that comes in two versions. There is the regular Meat-SNX which is just the small crispy pieces flavored to PERFECTION; then there is the energy edition which has almonds and peanuts also in the mix.
Macro wise, BarnDad’s Meat-SNX is a pretty clean protein snack. Each bag of the regular version provides a strong 20g of protein, 6g of fat, 15g of carbohydrates, for a light 190 calories. The profile is actually better than a lot of protein bars, featuring the usual amount of protein but slightly fewer calories.
THAT'S GREAT AND ALL... BUT, HOW DO THEY TASTE?
The big question with any protein snack is, of course, how does it taste? That question is even more important when the macros are as clean as they are with BarnDad’s Meat SNX. After buying all 5 of the product’s five flavors, I feel the best answer is it all depends on the flavor you get and your personal taste.
At our home I've found I lean towards the Sriracha, and the kids alternate between the Ranch and the Pizza flavor. If you're looking for something sweet, the Cinnamon is the closest thing you'll find to a high protein Cinnamon Toast Crunch (just a tad dry IMO) but defiantly works for a quick sweet snack.
All of the Meat-SNX flavors have the same crispy crunch to their chicken isolate protein pieces. There is a nice, chip-like consistency to them that makes for a convenient, easy to eat snack for all ages and if you're counting macros they fit perfectly into a paleo diet.
For those after flavor recommendations, I’d say go with the Ranch or Sriracha to start, however only if you don’t mind the added almonds and peanuts. If that added fat and calories is a bit too much, I suggest you go with the Cheese Pizza or the Sweet BBQ.
